Treatment Pre-Care Advice

  • Before Your Appointment

    • Allow at least two to four weeks before an important event. Results develop gradually and temporary bruising, swelling or asymmetry may occur while treatment settles.

    • Tell us about all medication and supplements you take, particularly anticoagulants, antiplatelet medicines, aspirin, ibuprofen, antibiotics, muscle relaxants or medicines that may affect nerves or muscles.

    • Do not stop any prescribed medication unless advised by the clinician responsible for prescribing it.

    • Tell us if you have received any botulinum-toxin treatment within the previous three months, including the date, product and areas treated if known.

    • Tell us about any recent or planned facial, dental, eye, neck or other surgery, or any recent aesthetic treatment in the same area.

    • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours beforehand, as it may increase bruising.

Please Contact Us Before Attending If:

    • You are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding.

    • You feel unwell or have a fever, active infection, cold sore, rash, inflammation, broken skin or open wound in or near the treatment area.

    • You have started antibiotics, muscle relaxants, anticoagulants, antiplatelet medication or any new medicine.

    • You have myasthenia gravis, Lambert–Eaton syndrome, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, a peripheral neuropathy or another condition affecting your nerves or muscles.

    • You have unexplained muscle weakness, facial palsy, reduced facial movement, eyelid or eyebrow drooping, or a significant change in facial symmetry.

    • You currently have, or have previously experienced, difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing, choking or aspiration.

    • You have an eye condition, persistent dry eyes or have recently undergone facial, eyelid or eye surgery.

    • You have previously experienced an allergic reaction, unexpected weakness, eyelid or eyebrow drooping, swallowing difficulty or another complication following botulinum toxin.

    • Your health, medication, allergies, pregnancy status or aesthetic-treatment history has changed since completing your medical-history form.

Your appointment may need to be postponed or the treatment plan changed for your safety.

    On the Day

    • Eat normally and drink plenty of water. Fasting is not required.

    • Arrive with clean skin and, where possible, no make-up, deodorant or skincare products on the treatment area.

    • Bring an up-to-date medication and allergy list if anything has changed.

    • Be prepared to confirm the date, product and areas of any recent botulinum-toxin treatment.

    • Your prescribing clinician will review your medical history, assess your muscle movement, confirm the treatment plan and answer any remaining questions before proceeding.

    • Standardised clinical photographs will be taken as part of your confidential medical record.

    Important

Botulinum toxin type A is a prescription-only medicine. Results are temporary and cannot be guaranteed. There is no immediate reversal treatment, so an unwanted muscular effect generally has to improve naturally as the medicine wears off.

The licensed cosmetic indications vary according to the product used. Some treatment areas or techniques may be off-label; your prescribing clinician will explain this before treatment where relevant.

If you are unsure whether any of the above applies to you, please contact Clinic N°44 before your appointment.

  • Before Your Appointment

    • Tell us about all medical conditions, allergies, medication and supplements, including blood thinners, aspirin, anti-inflammatory medicines, steroids, immunosuppressants and isotretinoin.

    • Do not stop prescribed medication or blood thinners unless the clinician who prescribed them advises you to do so.

    • Contact Clinic N°44 before attending if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, feel unwell, have a fever, are taking antibiotics, or have an infection, cold sore, rash, open wound, sunburn or active inflammation in the treatment area.

    • Tell us if you have a history of cold sores, poor healing, keloid scarring, pigment changes after skin injury, fainting during blood tests or difficulty having blood taken.

    • Inform us about any recent facial or scalp injections, laser treatment, chemical peel, microneedling, surgery or hair transplant.

    Five to Seven Days Before

    • Where medically safe, avoid non-essential aspirin and anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen or naproxen, as these may increase bruising and may affect platelet function. Do not avoid anything prescribed without speaking to the prescriber.

    • Avoid non-essential supplements that may increase bruising, such as fish oil, high-dose vitamin E, ginkgo, garlic or turmeric. Check with your clinician if unsure.

    • Avoid waxing, depilatory creams, chemical peels, laser treatment or other irritating procedures in the treatment area.

    • For scalp treatment, avoid hair dye, bleach, chemical straightening or perming.

Three to Five Days Before Facial Treatment

    • Pause retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs and other irritating active skincare unless your clinician has advised otherwise.

    • Avoid deliberate tanning and protect the skin from strong sun exposure.

    Twenty-Four Hours Before

    • Avoid alcohol and, where possible, smoking or vaping.

    • Drink plenty of water.

    • If having PRP, eat a normal meal before your appointment—do not fast unless specifically instructed.

    • Avoid strenuous exercise immediately before treatment.

    On the Day

    Face or Body

    • Arrive with clean skin and no make-up, fake tan, creams, oils or fragranced products on the treatment area.

    • Wash your hair before attending and arrive with a clean, dry scalp.

    • Do not apply styling products, dry shampoo, fibres, oils, sprays or topical hair-loss medication on the day.

    If You Are Having PRP

    • Stay well hydrated and eat beforehand.

    • Wear clothing that allows easy access to your arm for the blood draw.

    • Tell us if you feel faint or unwell during blood tests.

    Important

    • Topical exosome products used by Clinic N°44 are applied to the skin or scalp following an appropriate procedure. They are not injected.

    • Treatment may be postponed if the skin or scalp is inflamed, infected, sunburnt or otherwise unsuitable.

    • Please allow time for redness, tenderness, pinpoint bleeding, bruising, dryness or mild swelling after treatment.

If you are unsure whether to attend, contact Clinic N°44 on 07428 531375 before your appointment.

  • Before Your Appointment

    • Allow at least one to two weeks before an important event, as temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness or visible injection-site bumps may occur.

    • Do not stop any prescribed medication unless advised by the clinician responsible for prescribing it.

Treatment After Care Advice

  • What to Expect

It is normal to experience temporary:

    • Mild redness, swelling, tenderness or small raised bumps at injection sites

    • Bruising or pinpoint bleeding

    • Headache, tightness, heaviness or altered sensation

    • Mild asymmetry while the treatment begins to take effect

These effects usually settle within hours to several days, although bruising may last longer.

Results usually begin to appear within several days and may continue to develop over approximately two to four weeks. Results are temporary and vary between individuals and treatment areas.

    For the First 4 Hours

    • Remain upright where practical and avoid lying completely flat.

    • Do not rub, massage or press firmly on the treated area.

    • Avoid applying make-up, deodorant or skincare directly over the injection sites until they have closed.

    For the First 24–48 Hours

    • Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for at least 24 hours.

    • Avoid facials, facial massage, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, sunbeds and excessive heat for 24–48 hours.

    • Avoid tight hats, headbands, helmets or clothing that presses firmly on the treated area.

    • Clean the area gently and avoid exfoliating or irritating skincare until any redness or sensitivity has settled.

    • Paracetamol may be taken for discomfort if you can normally take it safely.

Do not stop any prescribed medication without advice from the clinician who prescribed it.

    Area-Specific Advice

    Upper face or brow treatment:

Mild forehead or brow heaviness can occur while treatment settles. Contact us if you develop eyelid or eyebrow drooping, troublesome dry or watery eyes, blurred vision or double vision.

Lip flip, gummy smile, perioral lines, chin or DAO treatment:

Temporary lip or lower-face weakness may affect smiling, speech, drinking from a straw, whistling, eating or retaining liquids. Contact us if this is significant or concerning.

    Masseter treatment:

Temporary jaw tiredness, tenderness or reduced bite strength may occur. Choose softer foods if chewing is uncomfortable and contact us if weakness is marked or worsening.

    Nefertiti neck treatment:

Contact us promptly if you notice significant neck weakness, voice change or difficulty swallowing. Seek urgent medical help for any breathing or swallowing difficulty.

    Hyperhidrosis treatment:

Keep the area clean and avoid shaving, deodorant or irritating products until the injection sites have settled. Contact us if you develop unexpected weakness near the treated area.

    Results and Review

    • Do not assess the final result too early. The effect may continue to develop for up to two to four weeks.

    • Do not seek additional botulinum-toxin treatment elsewhere while your result is still developing.

    • Any review or adjustment will depend on clinical reassessment and may not be appropriate.

    • Routine repeat treatment is not normally undertaken at intervals shorter than three months.

Contact Clinic N°44 Promptly If You Develop

    • Increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pain or discharge suggesting infection

    • Marked or worsening facial, jaw, lip, eyelid, brow, neck or limb weakness

    • Significant asymmetry or loss of function

    • Persistent eye irritation, visual symptoms or an unexpected change in facial movement

    • A rash, increasing itching or delayed swelling

    • Any unexpected or concerning symptom

    Urgent Warning Signs

Rarely, botulinum toxin effects may spread beyond the injection area. Symptoms can develop hours to weeks after treatment.

Call Clinic N°44 immediately on 07428 531375 and seek urgent medical assessment if you develop:

    • Difficulty swallowing or speaking

    • New voice changes accompanied by weakness or swallowing difficulty

    • Generalised or rapidly progressive muscle weakness

    • Pronounced eyelid drooping, blurred vision or double vision

    • Symptoms of a significant allergic reaction

Call 999 or attend A&E immediately if you experience:

Once emergency help has been arranged, notify Clinic N°44 on 07428 531375.

    Important

There is no immediate reversal treatment for botulinum toxin. An unwanted muscular effect generally has to improve naturally as the medicine wears off, so please contact Clinic N°44 promptly if you are concerned.

  • What to Expect

    It is normal to experience:

    • Redness, warmth, tightness or sensitivity

    • Mild swelling, tenderness or bruising

    • Avoid shaving or applying fragranced, active or irritating products to the treated area.

    • Use a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping directly on a treated facial area where possible.

    • Do not pick flaking skin or crusts.

If discomfort relief is needed, paracetamol may be used if normally safe for you. Following PRP, avoid non-essential aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen unless prescribed or your clinician advises otherwise. Do not stop prescribed medication.

    Facial or Body Skin Care

    • Once permitted, cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser.

    • Use only a simple moisturiser or the products recommended by Clinic N°44.

    • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily once the skin can tolerate it.

    • Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, vitamin C and other strong active products for approximately five to seven days, or until fully settled.

    • Avoid waxing, depilatory creams, peels, laser treatment or further microneedling until your clinician confirms it is safe—usually at least one to two weeks.

    • Do not wash your hair for 12–24 hours, or for the specific period advised.

    • When washing, use lukewarm water and a gentle shampoo. Do not scrub the scalp.

    • Avoid hair oils, sprays, fibres, dry shampoo and fragranced styling products for 24–48 hours.

    • Restart minoxidil or other topical hair-loss treatment only when advised—commonly after 24–48 hours once irritation has settled.

    • Avoid hair dye, bleach, chemical straightening or perming for approximately five to seven days.

    • Avoid tight hats, helmets or anything that rubs the treated scalp while it remains sensitive.

    Topical Exosome Treatment

    • Allow the product to remain on the treated skin or scalp for the period advised by your clinician.

    • Do not wash it off early or apply additional products unless instructed.

    • Topical exosome products are not for injection and should not be reapplied at home unless specifically supplied with written instructions.

    • Fever or feeling generally unwell

    • Persistent bleeding

    • Persistent lumps or nodules

    • Significant or prolonged hair shedding

    • Any other unexpected or concerning symptom

    When to Seek Emergency Help

Call 999 or attend A&E immediately if you experience:

    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing

    • Tongue or throat swelling

    • Collapse or loss of consciousness

    • Sudden visual disturbance or loss of vision

    • Severe eye pain

    • Sudden weakness, facial drooping, confusion or difficulty speaking

Do not wait for the clinic to respond before seeking emergency medical care.

  • What to Expect

It is normal to experience temporary:

    • Redness, swelling or tenderness

    • Bruising or pinpoint bleeding

    • Mild itching, tightness or warmth

    • Small raised bumps or unevenness at the injection sites

Injection-site bumps commonly settle over approximately 12–72 hours, although they may occasionally remain visible for longer. Swelling around the eyes can be more noticeable, particularly the following morning. Bruising may take up to two weeks to settle fully.

Results develop gradually over the following weeks and usually require a treatment course. The immediate appearance should not be considered the final result.

    For the First 24–48 Hours

    • Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching it unnecessarily.

    • Do not massage, press, squeeze or manipulate the treated area unless your clinician has specifically instructed you to do so.

    • Avoid make-up on the treated area for at least 12 hours, or until the injection sites have closed.

    • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, sunbeds and excessive heat for 24–48 hours.

    • Avoid swimming until the injection sites have healed.

    • Avoid sleeping directly on or applying prolonged pressure to the treated area on the first night. Sleeping on your back with your head slightly elevated may help reduce swelling.

    • A clean, cool compress may be applied gently for short periods. Do not place ice directly onto the skin.

    • Paracetamol may be taken for discomfort if you can normally take it safely. Avoid aspirin or anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen unless they have been prescribed or recommended by a healthcare professional.

Do not stop any prescribed medication without advice from the clinician who prescribed it.

    Skin Care

    • Use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser while the skin settles.

    • Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs and other irritating active products for approximately three to five days, or until redness and sensitivity have resolved.

    • Avoid excessive sun exposure and use a suitable broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 once the skin has settled.

    For the Following Two Weeks

    • Do not squeeze or attempt to manipulate any persistent bump or lump yourself.

    • Avoid facial massage, facials, microneedling, chemical peels, laser, radiofrequency and other injectable or energy-based treatments over the treated area unless approved by your clinician.

    • Where possible, avoid non-urgent dental work. If urgent dental treatment is required, inform your dentist that you have recently received an injectable treatment and contact Clinic N°44 for advice.

    • Attend any recommended review appointment and contact us if you are concerned about your recovery or result.

Contact Clinic N°44 Promptly If You Develop

    • Increasing redness, warmth, swelling or tenderness rather than gradual improvement

    • Discharge, fever or other symptoms suggesting infection

    • A persistent, increasing or painful lump or nodule

    • Delayed swelling, rash, itching or tenderness

    • A cold sore near the treated area

    • Persistent or worsening swelling around the eyes

    • Any unexpected or concerning symptom

    Urgent Warning Signs

Seek immediate advice if you develop:

    • Severe or increasing pain

    • Pale, white, mottled, dusky or unusually cool skin

    • Blistering or rapidly changing skin colour

    • Rapidly increasing swelling

These may indicate reduced blood supply and require urgent assessment.

Call Clinic N°44 immediately on 07428 531375. Do not wait until the next working day.

Call 999 or attend A&E immediately if you experience:

    • Any change in vision, loss of vision, severe eye pain or an unusual severe headache

    • Facial drooping, weakness, numbness, confusion, difficulty speaking or other stroke-like symptoms

    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, collapse or signs of a severe allergic reaction

Once emergency help has been arranged, notify Clinic N°44 on 07428 531375.

    Important

Polynucleotides are not hyaluronic-acid fillers and cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Early assessment of a suspected complication is therefore important.

If you are unsure whether a symptom is normal, please contact Clinic N°44 for advice.

  • What to Expect

It is normal to experience temporary:

    • Redness, swelling or tenderness

    • Bruising or pinpoint bleeding

    • Mild itching, tightness or firmness

    • Small raised bumps or unevenness at the injection sites

Injection-site bumps, particularly after PROFHILO®, commonly settle over the following 24–48 hours but may occasionally remain visible for longer. Bruising or swelling may take several days, and sometimes up to two weeks, to settle fully.

Results are usually subtle and relate to skin hydration, texture, smoothness or firmness. The final result should be assessed after swelling has resolved and the product has had time to settle.

    For the First 24–48 Hours

    • Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching it unnecessarily.

    • Do not massage, press or manipulate the area unless your clinician has specifically instructed you to do so.

Sleeping slightly elevated may help reduce swelling.

    Important

SKINVIVE™, STYLAGE® HydroMax and PROFHILO® are hyaluronic-acid injectable treatments. Hyaluronidase may be considered when clinically appropriate, but it does not replace urgent assessment and complete or precisely controlled reversal cannot be guaranteed.

If you are unsure whether a symptom is normal, please contact Clinic N°44 for advice.

  • What to Expect

It is normal to experience temporary:

    • Redness, swelling or tenderness

    • Bruising or pinpoint bleeding

    • Mild itching, tightness or firmness

    • Small bumps or unevenness at the injection sites

Any immediate fullness is partly due to the injected fluid and swelling and may reduce over the first few days. JULÄINE™ works gradually by stimulating collagen, so results develop over the following weeks and months.

    For the First 24–48 Hours

    • Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching it unnecessarily for 24 hours.

    • Do not apply make-up for 24 hours, unless your clinician advises otherwise.

    • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, sunbeds and excessive heat for 24–48 hours, or until redness and swelling have settled.

    • Avoid swimming until the injection sites have healed.

    • Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated where possible, and avoid firm pressure on the treated area.

    • A clean, cool compress may be applied gently. Do not place ice directly onto the skin.

    • If required, paracetamol may be taken provided it is normally safe for you. Avoid aspirin or anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen unless they have been prescribed or advised by a healthcare professional.

Do not stop any prescribed medication without advice from the clinician who prescribed it.

    Massage

Begin massage only if, when and exactly as instructed by your treating clinician—this will usually be from 24 hours after treatment. The technique and duration may vary according to the area treated.

If you were not given massage instructions, please contact Clinic N°44 before massaging the area.

    For the Following Two Weeks

    • Do not squeeze, press or attempt to manipulate any lump or firm area.

    • Avoid facial massage or facials, apart from the specific massage advised by your clinician.

    • Avoid laser treatment, chemical peels, microneedling, radiofrequency and other injectable or energy-based treatments in the same area unless approved by your clinician.

    • Where possible, avoid non-urgent dental work and discuss any planned procedure with the clinic.

    • Protect the skin from excessive sun exposure and use a suitable broad-spectrum sunscreen.

    Important

JULÄINE™ is a collagen-stimulating PLLA injectable and cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase in the way that a hyaluronic-acid filler can. Early assessment of any suspected complication is therefore important.

If you are unsure whether a symptom is normal, please contact Clinic N°44 for advice.

  • What to Expect

    • Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, firmness, itching or bruising is common.

    • Small lumps or unevenness may be noticeable while swelling settles.

    • These effects usually improve over several days, although bruising or swelling may occasionally last longer.

    • The immediate appearance may partly reflect swelling. Collagen stimulation develops gradually over the following weeks and months.

    For the First 24–48 Hours

    • Keep the area clean and avoid touching it unnecessarily.

    • Do not massage or press firmly on the treated area unless your clinician has specifically instructed you to do so.

    • Avoid make-up on the treated area for at least 12 hours.

    • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and excessive heat for 24–48 hours.

    • Avoid excessive sun exposure and sunbeds. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 once the skin has settled.

    • Avoid sleeping directly on or applying prolonged pressure to the treated area on the first night. Sleeping slightly elevated may help reduce swelling.

    • A cool compress wrapped in a clean cloth may be applied gently for short periods. Do not place ice directly onto the skin.

    • Paracetamol may be used for discomfort if you can normally take it safely. Do not stop prescribed medication, including blood-thinning medication, unless advised by the clinician responsible for prescribing it.

    For the Following Two Weeks

    • Avoid facial massage, facials, microneedling, peels, laser, radiofrequency or other treatments over the injected area unless approved by your clinician.
