FAQ

  • Polynucleotides are biocompatible, non-immunogenic molecules derived from purified DNA. In aesthetic medicine, injectable polynucleotides are valued for their ability to support tissue repair, activate fibroblast cells, and enhance collagen and elastin production. They offer an advanced approach to improving skin elasticity, hydration, and overall skin health and quality.

  • While both treatments enhance skin hydration, Polynucleotides offer deeper, more lasting benefits. Traditional skin boosters primarily provide temporary plumping and moisture, whereas Polynucleotides work at a cellular level to stimulate fibroblasts, collagen, and elastin, promoting long-term skin regeneration and improved elasticity.

  • Polynucleotide treatments are focused on regeneration rather than correction. Unlike dermal fillers, which restore volume, or anti-wrinkle injections, which relax muscles, injectable polynucleotides work from within to repair and rejuvenate the skin. Over time, they enhance hydration, elasticity, and texture, providing natural-looking, gradual improvements.

  • Polynucleotide injections are highly versatile and can address a variety of skin issues, including:

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Dull, dehydrated, or tired-looking skin

    • Scars, including acne scars

    • Rosacea and inflammation

    • Skin laxity and reduced elasticity

    • Dark circles and under-eye hollows

They are suitable for most skin types and offer an excellent option for those seeking skin regeneration and revitalisation without changing facial contours.

  • Many patients observe initial improvements in skin hydration and texture about 4 weeks after the first treatment. The most noticeable results usually appear 6–8 weeks following the second session. For optimal and long-lasting effects, a course of 3–4 treatments is generally recommended.

  • Results typically last between 6 and 12 months, depending on factors like age, lifestyle, and the specific skin concerns being addressed. Follow-up maintenance sessions are recommended to extend the benefits and continue promoting skin regeneration.

  • Yes. Polynucleotides work well alongside other treatments such as injectable skin boosters, dermal fillers, and anti-wrinkle injections, enhancing overall results.

  • To ensure your safety and optimal results, please follow these guidelines:

    • Plan social events carefully, as redness, bruising, swelling, or compromised skin may occur after treatment.

    • Bruising or other side effects can happen even if previous treatments went smoothly.

    • Inform your consultant if you have any travel planned within the next 4 weeks.

    • Do not have any active cold sores on the day of treatment. If you are prone to cold sores, discuss this with your doctor at Clinic N°44

    • Ensure there is no active acne in the area to be treated.

    • Avoid treatment if you have had a recent illness, infection, or course of antibiotics.

    • The treatment is not suitable if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    • Understand that Polynucleotide treatment is a 3–4 session protocol for optimal results, with ongoing maintenance recommended throughout the year.

    • Be aware that results are not immediate and may take up to 6 weeks to fully appear, and results can vary.

    • Inform your HCP of all medications, vitamins, or supplements you are taking, as many can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising. This includes blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or warfarin.

    • Arrive with no makeup on the day of treatment and avoid reapplying makeup for 24 hours to reduce the risk of infection or skin irritation.

  • Yes. Polynucleotides are highly biocompatible and non-immunogenic, making them safe and well tolerated by the body. Temporary side effects, such as redness, swelling, or mild bruising, may occur but typically resolve within a few days.

  • Polynucleotide injections are commonly used on the face, under-eye area, neck, décolleté, and hands. They are particularly effective in delicate areas with thin skin that are prone to signs of ageing, such as beneath the eyes.

  • Both treatments are highly effective for skin rejuvenation, but they work in different ways. Profhilo provides deep hydration and enhances skin firmness through hyaluronic acid, while Polynucleotides stimulate skin cells to regenerate, repair, and boost collagen and elastin production. Many patients opt to combine both treatments to achieve optimal results.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides represent the next evolution in skin rejuvenation, helping your skin tap into its natural regenerative abilities. They work to combat the signs of ageing at a deeper level, delivering long-lasting results that look natural and refreshed.

REGENERATIVE EFFECT

Polynucleotides are one of the most innovative advances in skincare. Sourced from salmon DNA, these fragments stimulate the production of collagen and elastin—key proteins that naturally decline with age. They can be applied to the face, neck, and hands, with under-eye treatments being particularly popular.

What sets polynucleotides apart is their ability to deliver deeper, long-term results. Unlike treatments that provide only immediate hydration or plumping, polynucleotides work at a cellular level by activating fibroblast cells in the skin. This stimulates your body’s own collagen and elastin production, gradually making the skin firmer, smoother, and stronger, with natural-looking improvements that build over multiple sessions.
